Diz's Cafe - Where Locals Go_2020

“Makin’ your way in the world today takes everything you’ve got.
Takin’ a break from all your worries sure would help a lot.
Wouldn’t you like to get away?”

Every Thursday night for eleven years during the 1980s and 90s, many of us heard this iconic theme song open 275 episodes of one of America’s most beloved television sitcoms, Cheers. (And since then, many of us watched reruns of the show or caught it on a streaming service.)

The fictional bar, a place where locals meet to drink, relax, and socialize, was modeled after Boston’s Bull & Finch Cafe, located in the city’s historic Beacon Hill neighborhood (the bar is now known as Cheers on Beacon Hill). With memorable characters such as bar owner (and former Red Sox pitcher) Sam Malone, perpetual guests Cliff Claven, Norm Peterson, and Dr. Frasier Crane, and bar staff Diane Chambers, Carla Tortelli, Coach and Woody, Cheers was a destination after a long day of work.

At Diz’s Cafe, we have our own cast of characters ready to greet you. Abbie, Joe, Jeff, Michele, Captain Peter, Mel, Jordy, Michael, Ed, Elly, Renee & Jim, Sarah, Diz, Judi, Billy, and the team to name just a few. We are where locals go and visitors feel welcome. We want to be your destination on a trip to – or through – Manchester’s downtown. We’re the place for you to plug in, sit and work quietly, the place for you to hold a meeting or two, or the place for you to dine alone or to meet friends for breakfast, lunch or supper.

Diz’s Cafe is a safe, fun place we hope you will make your destination any time of day, any day of the week. Our casual and warm atmosphere, just like the fictional Cheers, is the perfect place to spend leisurely time and enjoy a good meal or perhaps a tasty pour from our counter.
