Pennies, Pennies, Pennies… Where Did They All Go?
Turns out, the Federal Reserve isn’t making new pennies anymore — and it’s officially hit our neighborhood! Our bank gave us a heads-up that they’re running low and will be limiting pennies through the end of the year.
Now, as you know, Diz’s has always loved a good .49 or .99 on our menu (it just looks right, doesn’t it?). But with this penny shortage, we’ll be rounding our monthly and specials menus to good old-fashioned whole numbers moving forward.
That said… New Hampshire’s 8.5% meals tax means a few extra cents are still bound to sneak in when you pay cash. We’ll do our best to work through our stash of shiny (and not-so-shiny) pennies while supplies last. Once those are gone, we may need to round up or down to the nearest coin or dollar when making change.
Don’t worry — this isn’t a Diz’s thing; it’s a national money thing. We promise we’re not secretly building a penny fort in the basement (though that does sound like fun).
We appreciate your understanding — and your sense of humor — as we all navigate this tiny but mighty change together. In the meantime, bring your appetite, your smile, and maybe… a few spare pennies from the couch cushions. 😉
